On July 31, 1743, Semyon Ivanovich Gamaleya was born - a Russian freemason and one of the active actors of Freemasonry in the times of Nikolay Ivanovich Novikov, his associate, translator (he knew Latin, Polish, German, French) and the poet. He was born in 1743 in the family of a priest, he studied at the Kiev Academy. He became one of the founders of the Typographical company in Moscow. Founded in 1782 lodge "Deucalion". He actively engaged in enlightenment activities, enjoyed great respect among Russian martinists and freemasons. In 1784, he distributed all his property to the poor, earning the reputation of “the man of God”. He refused to receive at his disposal 300 serfs, whom he could get for his service in Belarus. After the start of the persecution of the Russian Martinists, he lived in the village Avdotyino for the rest of his life.

31 июля 1743 года родился Семён Иванович Гамалея – российский масон и один из активных деятелей масонства времен Николая Ивановича Новикова, его сподвижник, переводчик (знал латынь, польский, немецкий, французский языки) и поэт. Он родился в 1743 году в семье священника, учился в Киевской академии. Стал одним из учредителей Типографской компании в Москве. Основал в 1782 году ложу «Девкалион». Активно занимался просветительской деятельностью, пользовался большим уважением среди российских мартинистов и масонов. В 1784 году раздал все имущество нищим, заслужив репутацию «божьего человека». Отказался от 300 крепостных, которых хотели ему пожаловать за службу в Белоруссии. После начала гонений на российский мартинистов жил в селе Авдотьино безвыездно.
