On October 6, 2008, Gerard Kloppel died - Martinist, Freemason of the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraim, the successor of Robert Ambelain.
Gerard Kloppel defended his thesis on the topic “Family Environment and Etiology of Deviant Behavior of French Youth” at l’Université René Descartes de Paris. A graduate of the l’École des hautes études en sciences sociales, a graduate in-depth study of psychopathology and social psychiatry, had a great interest in child psychology. He was a practicing psychotherapist and lecturer at l’Université de Paris XI.
In 1963 he was initiated to the “Papus” lodge of the Grand Lodge of France, and, not reaching the Master's degree, two years later joined the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraim of Robert Ambelain in the logde “Hermès”. July 4, 1985 replaced Robert Ambelain as President of “Suprême Conseil des rites confédérés pour la France et ses dépendances”. Resigned from his post in 1998, transferring the post of Grande Maîtrise Mondiale to Cheikna Sylla, but on March 2, 2000 in Brussels, Gerard Kloppel organized the International Sovereign Sanctuary, deciding to dismiss Cheikna Sylla, who did not recognize this decision, like his successor Willy Raemakers. On January 26, 2008, the latter adopted a decree excluding Gerard Kloppel from the Rite.
On July 12, 2007, Gerard Kloppel took part in the creation of the association Confédération Internationale Franc-Maçonnique.
Also Gerard Kloppel (Sâr Signifer) was Ambelain's successor in l'Ordre Martiniste Initiatique. On June 29, 2008, a few months before his death, he created the “l'Ordre Martiniste des rites unis” in Bordeaux. He believed that the structure of Martinism needed to be completely updated and wanted to unite Papus Martinism with Russian Martinism.
In addition, he was a member of Groupe de Thèbes along with Rémi Boyer, Triantaphyllos Kotzamanis, Robert Amadou, Massimo Introvigne and others.

В 1963 году был посвящен в ложу «Papus» Великой Ложи Франции, и, не достигнув Степени Мастера, через два года присоединился к Древнему и Изначальному Уставу Мемфис-Мицраим Робера Амбелена в ложе «Hermès». 4 июля 1985 года наследовал Роберу Амбелену на посту Председателя Верховного Совета Конфедеративных Уставов для Франции и союзных стран.
