On October 12, 1838, Albert Faucheux, known under the pseudonym Francois-Charles Barlet, was born. He was a member of the Supreme Council of the Martinist Order under the direction of Papus (1891) and was a member of l’Ordre kabbalistique de la Rose-Croix (in 1897 he became its Grand Master).
Previously, Charles Barlet was one of the first members of the French branch of the Société Théosophique, but left it at the same time as Papus in 1888. Barlet was also a member of Groupe indépendant des études ésotériques (GIDEE) and a Bishop of the Gnostic Church of Jules Doinel.
Charles Barlet collaborated with a number of magazines, including “L’Initiation”, “L’Anti-Matérialiste”, “La Revue spiritualiste illustrée”, “La Science Astrale” and “L’Étoile d’Orient”.
